How To Install Wordpress Plugins - A Beginner's Guide

Installing Wordpress Plugins to your worpress blog is not a big task you can do it very easily. If you want to install wordpress plugins to your blog make sure you are a self hosted wordpress user, not a wordpress.com user because you can not install plugins in wordpress.com's blog.

You can install Wordpress plugins from two ways ::

• Direct from the dashboard
• Through FTP

Installing plugins through FTP a bit hectic that is I recommend you to install it through the dashboard as it is more easier than the FTP process but don't worry here I have written both the process so you choose any one of them as per your convenient.

Install Wordpress Plugins from Dashboard ::

Go to your WordPress Admin Panel and click on Plugins » Add New

When you click on the add new you will be redirected on a new page where you can search plugins that are Wordpress Plugin Directory. Search for any plugin with keyword say Google Analytics :

Now you have to select any one from the search and click on Install Now link to install the plugin. Navigate  to installed plugin and her you can find all the installed plugins. Find the Google Analytics Plugin and click on active link to active it.

You have done with Installation of Wordpress Plugin through dashboard now configure the plugin as per you convenient. Now let start the another process to install Wordpress Plugins.

Install Wordpress plugins through FTP ::

Though I always recommend to install plugins from the dashboard but the problem with dashboard is they show only those plugins that are in Wordpress Plugin directory. If a webmaster want to add plugin that is not in wordpress plugin directory then what will he do ?

Here is the solution, if you are a new to wordpress and don't have knowledge about FTP then don't go through this method use the above one.

Installing wordpress plugins by this you have to access your host through the FTP manager every hosting control panel has FTP manager Just find it and access the path (/wp-content/plugins/) and here you need to upload you zipped plugin and after successfully uploading it unzip the plugin files.

Now go to Dashboard and Select Plugins >> Installed Plugins

here you will find plugin which is installed through FTP method, activation method is same as above.
